Sometimes young people in their 20s and 30s have the problem of premature graying of their hair, which makes them look much older than they really are. This may be due to genetic factors, malnutrition, hormonal fluctuations, smoking, pollution, stress, use of inappropriate substances for hair, or certain diseases such as acute colds, sinusitis, and thyroid problems.

Hair graying is mainly due to a decrease in melanin. Melanin is a pigment that creates the natural color of your hair. Melanin production decreases with age, and the body eventually stops producing melanin completely.

Instead of covering your gray hair with the chemical dyes that you see advertised every day, we suggest you try a few home remedies and also follow a healthy and nutritious diet. Deficiencies of some vitamins and minerals such as B vitamins, iron, copper, and iodine can contribute to this problem.

Vitamins that keep your hair healthy include:

  • B vitamins, especially B-12 and biotin
  • Vitamins A ,D, and E

Minerals that can play a vital role in hair growth and repair include:

  • Zinc
  • iron
  • magnesium
  • selenium
  • copper
  • Manganese
  • Catalase enzyme
